Welcome to Creative Glass Works by Gail Walden Paul

Thanks for visiting!

I'm back, and torching away! Stand by for exciting news about my end of April sale - new items, new products!

I am continually discovering new and exciting designs of beads and jewelry. I enjoy producing both custom and pre-made art. Almost all of the beads on this website are hand-made by me, and I feel they are representative of exciting, wearable and/or useable art. To keep my prices reasonable and affordable, I use mostly pewter and base metals in my creations. I do keep some silver in stock, so please let me know if you would prefer your piece done in silver.

Glass Bead making, or Lampworking is done with a small torch which jets a flame several inches in length.  With this flame I melt coloured glass rods around thin steel bars called mandrels.  The glass rod is sort of pencil shaped but about a foot long. By adding different colours of glass and moving them around I come up with various shapes and designs. Once I am happy with the bead, I put it in a kiln to 'cook' for about 8 hours. This is called anealling. This ensures that the bead has been cooled slowly, to ensure it's integrity and should not break.

Some other beadwork I have done are wine charms, book marks, lanyards, cell phone/scissor/purse charms, bead pens, etc.
